September Ceramics Class Schedule

This class is open to any blind or visually impaired person in the state of Utah and is currently being held on Wednesdays at the Utah State Division of Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired, 250 N 1950 W, Salt Lake City, in room 301 from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. Classes are available 40 weeks of the year. The class will be taking a break in the month of November and December, at the discretion of the instructor.

The attendees of this program only pay the cost of the materials needed to complete the projects they choose to make and a $2 per month breakage fee. We have obtained Grants to pay for the cost of the instructor.

When you make your reservation, please indicate whether or not each person in your party is a member of the UCB, whether you use large print or braille, any dietary restrictions you or a member of your party may have, and if you will need a listening device or any other accommodation.

For Users of Dog Guides -Greatest Paws on Earth

September 19 via phone conference call

Greatest Paws on Earth is an independent group of people interested in guide dogs and issues concerning them. They meet each month on the 3rd Thursday via conference call to talk about a different topic in which dog guide users may be interested. Our next meeting will be on September 19. A puppy-raiser will talk with us about the fun and not-so-fun parts of puppy raising, and we'll have a chance to ask questions. We'll also try something new and have the puppy-raiser be able to ask us questions about our dogs, so come prepared to answer whatever interesting questions are asked!

We will have our call in September 19 at 7:00pm, (mountain Time).

UCB Annual Business Meeting

The Annual Business Meeting of the Utah Council of the Blind will be held at the Division of Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired, 250 N 1950 W, Salt Lake City, UT at 10:00am on Saturday, September 21, 2019. Reservations are required so that we can have enough food for everyone. Membership Verification: In order to vote at the annual business meeting a member's dues for 2019 must be paid no later than September 14, 2019. Health and Information Fair

October 18, 9:00am to 5:00pm

The Utah Council of the Blind will be hosting a Health and Information Fair on Friday, October 18th. Lunch will be provided at a cost of $5.00 per person. We will begin at 9:00 a.m. with announcements. The event will cover topics such as emergency management, fire safety, self-defense, stress management, and health management. We have a licensed therapist talking about stress management, emergency management, earthquake preparedness, exercise, and much more. There will be some general sessions, as well as breakout sessions. We are also hoping to have LS&S Products here to display some of their products as well as other vendors. This will end about 5:00pm.

Please join us at DSVBI, 250 N 1950 W. There will be door prizes and a lot of good information. If you would like to know more, please call or text Tina Terry at 801 245-9264. You may also email ucb.board@gmail.com.
